Your Guide to Photography Workshops in Scotland
I’m Gary Gough, a professional landscape photographer and photography educator with over 20 years’ experience teaching photography across the UK. I’ve worked with thousands of photographers, from complete beginners to seasoned enthusiasts, helping them understand light, composition and how to truly connect with the landscape.
Scotland, and particularly the Scottish Highlands, has played a huge role in my own photography journey. I’ve been returning to these locations for years, learning how they change with the seasons, the weather and the light, knowledge I pass directly on during my photography workshops.

Discover Scotland Through Your Viewfinder
Scotland is one of the most inspiring places in the UK for landscape photography. From towering mountains and sweeping glens to rugged coastlines and remote islands, my Photography Workshops Scotland are designed to help you slow down, see the landscape properly, and create meaningful images in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.
Why Choose Photography Workshops in Scotland?

- Filters, long exposures and tripod technique
- Planning shoots for sunrise, sunset and twilight
Scottish Highlands & Island Workshop Locations
Glencoe & Surrounding Area
Glencoe is one of Scotland’s most iconic landscape photography locations. Expect dramatic mountain backdrops, winding rivers, moody skies and endless compositional opportunities.
Isle of Skye Photography Workshops
Skye is a landscape photographer’s dream. From the Quiraing and Old Man of Storr to coastal locations like Neist Point, workshops here focus on composition, scale and working with fast-changing conditions.
The Incredible Isle of Harris & Lewis
Harris & Lewis is, without question, one of the most extraordinary landscape photography locations in Scotland, and if I’m honest… shhh, don’t tell anyone... it’s by far my favourite Scottish Highlands workshop location.
From sweeping white sand beaches that feel more like the Caribbean than Scotland, to rugged mountains, vast moorland and dramatic Atlantic coastlines, Harris & Lewis offers an incredible variety of landscapes within a relatively small area.
What makes photography workshops on Harris & Lewis so special is the sense of space, quiet and isolation. The light here can be magical, especially at sunrise and sunset, and the ever-changing weather adds mood, texture and drama to every shoot.
These workshops are perfect for photographers who want to slow down, really connect with the landscape, and come away with images that feel raw, natural and genuinely Scottish. If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable Photography Workshop in Scotland, Harris & Lewis is hard to beat.
Coastal & Island Scotland
Selected workshops may include coastal and island locations across Scotland, offering sea stacks, beaches, cliffs and opportunities to combine landscape and sometimes a wildlife photography too.
